It is with great sadness that we announce that the Downtown Dallas
St. Patrick's Day Parade will not occur in 2007. The all volunteer group
that puts this event together each year has faced increasingly difficult
challenges.
We are very grateful for the core group that has supported us with time, financial contributions, and encouragement in recent years. We are also very grateful for the wonderful participants and the thousands of patrons that have made this parade a Dallas institution for over two decades. We do encourage our patrons to support the other Dallas Irish Parade, which is held on Greenville Avenue on Saturday-this year on March 17th. While we realize that it has not had the same focus and culture for which the Downtown Parade is known, if we can pull together our supporters we could eventually have a parade on par with Chicago and New York. One final note: if you find yourself asking what might be done to restore this fine Irish/Dallas tradition, the answer might very well be to offer your time, talent, and/or financial support!
